As if anyone cares

So here we are. It's a great sunny day in Seattle on a Friday, I'm avoiding work and wishing I was back in Sydney in springtime.

What do I do then? I start a blog.

Short form: welcome. If you get interested in me and my life, that's great. If you don't, I'll still sleep easy.

Here's some basic information about me that will get the ball rolling:

* I'm 36 years old and an American/Australian dual citizen. I was born in New York (August 27) and my family moved to Australia when I was 7 years old.
* I live in Seattle with my wife, Faith, and 4 ferrets (Zonk, Zack, Ziggy and Zoe.) We've been here since October 2000. Before that, we lived in Sydney and in Melbourne, Australia.
* I work for a home networking software company called Pure Networks. I'm Lead Quality Engineer.
* I consider myself basically Christian, but I am quite liberal. GO JOHN KERRY!

More about me will come out in future posts.

For now, I'll leave it there.

basically CHristian? What an ironic phrase.

It's good to have another Aussie! (I'm not one but we have a few on here)

Hey! Thanks for stopping by! It's great to be able to do this and have fun with a blog!

Basically Christian? Ironic? Well, I guess so...would "Fundamentally Christian" have gelled better

The reason I say that (just for interest's sake) is that I believe in God, and I've been in churches for most of my life, but as I've gotten older I've had a few issues with the way in which churches and some Christians "do" Christianity. So, some of my beliefs may be construed as not fitting in with what most Christians would subscribe too. I hope to post some more on this sort of thing in my blog!

Thanks for the welcome, and let me know if I use any Australian terms that are not immediately clear! Crikey!

Joel
